Troy Davis has been granted a new stay of execution of approximately 25 days, so that the 11th Circuit Court can be briefed on the case. This means that this action is currently on hold. As a guide, please outline Troy's case - he has been on death row for 17 years for a murder that he maintains he did not commit.  He was convicted solely on the basis of witness testimony.  There was no physical evidence linking him to the crime.  Since his trial, 7 out of 9 non-police witnesses have recanted or changed their testimony with several citing police coercion.  On 14 October The Supreme Court declined Troy’s appeal.  This means that no court of law will ever hold a hearing on the witnesses who have recanted their trial testimony in sworn affidavits.

Urge your MP to contact the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles immediately to aks them to stop this execution.  They have the sole power to grant clemency in Georgia capital cases.  Your MP should urge the board to reconsider their decision to deny clemency to Troy and request that they move to immediately stop the execution.
