Just an update on the situation of Mohammed Abbou. He was allowed to travel to France on 8th June. On 9th June he participated in a press conference organised by AI France regarding the launch of the French version of the report Challenging Repression;Human Rights Defenders in the Middle East and North Africa.
Subsequently he travelled to Brussels where he met with the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the European Parliament and the European Commision on Human Rights.
Regrettably since his return to Tunisia he has been subjected to a smear campaign in the Tunisian press ( a tactic used by the government against other human rights defenders).

This is a great achievement, but like in Abbou's case, I believe there are hundreds of similar cases in Tunisia. How can we help people in similar situations? Does Amnesty have actions that I can take and I should be aware of? Thx, L.

The situation in Uzbekistan is so appaling it's unbelievable. My heart goes out to those who are imprisoned for speaking out, those who have to live in exile and their families
