Stop Belgrade forcing families from their homes

Resettled Roma families in Belgrade

Seventeen families living in the Obrenovac area of Belgrade, Serbia are at imminent risk of forced eviction. Most are from the Roma community, and include children and older people, some of whom have lived there for 40 years.

The Belgrade authorities have been carrying out forced evictions of Roma since 2009. We’re concerned that, as we have seen previously, families will be re-housed in metal containers. By failing to give families sufficient notice, carrying out genuine consultation or offering adequate alternative housing and compensation, the Serbian authorities are violating international law. For more information, download our report: Roma denied adequate housing in Serbia (pdf)

Please sign our petition addressed to the mayors of Obrenovac and Belgrade calling on them to stop the forced eviction. The eviction is imminent and we need your signatures as soon as possible.
