Thousands of people living and working next to railway lines in Accra, Ghana, face imminent eviction from their homes to make way for the redevelopment of the railway system.
Known as the Railway Dwellers, the men, women and children who live and trade in kiosks and small structures along the railway lines face homelessness and destitution if they are forcibly evicted from their homes following a renewed threat on 21 January.
32,000 of you helped the community avoid an earlier eviction threat in December 2010. Please support the affected communities in Accra again by signing the petition now.
The petition will be submitted by Amnesty International Ghana to the Minister of Transport. We will be collecting signatures until the end of 12 February.
