Thank you for sharing this. It is an encouragement to keep writing
Thank you Amnesty for making it easy for us to do these things.
I am disappointed that Omar only received photocopies of the greetings sent to him. But i am delighted to here how a few simple words of belief and support from genuine people gave Omar comfort and strength. A very worthwhile campaign
Wonderful to see first hand the positive effect the Greetings Cards Campaign can have! Shocked, though, to learn that Omar Deghayes was only given photocopies of the cards and letters sent to him - very cynical.

Brilliant clip - good to see evidence both of the cards getting through to prisoners of conscience and also that the cards help them - makes me determined to send even more greetings card to prisoners this year
Omar Deghayes on Torture and British Intelligence:
Listen to first hand testimony of former Guantánamo detainee describing his interrogation by British Intelligence agent, "Andrew", and
others (MI5 and MI6) while held illegally in Pakistan, before being
sold into US custody and rendered to Bagram prison in Afghanistan and
subjected to torture.

I agree this piece is totally on the money when it comes to torture and US political currents
Protect the human. Close Guantanamo Bay now.
SBP what are you doing on this site? Do you think everything wrong in the world should be left as it is until we all come round to your way of thinking about psychiatric institutions? If not, why are you wasting your time here?
This is a site for people to discuss actual human rights issues and not to try and twist every conversation around to your obsession.
I am sorry because it is obvious that you have suffered greatly in your own life but I wonder if you can see that the genuine sympathy people might have for you is slipping away in the irritation caused by behaviour that is against the spirit of this site while doing nothing to further your own cause.
That was terrifying. He was in a simulation that lasted seconds. How can anyone condone such an activity? Hitchens' is right, imagine what an innocent person would have to endure because they could offer no information. As a source of intelligence gathering waterboarding is useless, if I were in that position i'd say anything just to make them my captors stop. It is purely torture and hold no other value.
