What people are saying about Amnesty at 50

  • This is an excellent  post. I learned a lot about what you talking about. Not sure if I agree with you completely  though.

  • Joining Amnesty in 1976 was one of my best decisions-----albeit was/am more enthused by their" narrow-gauge "foundational concepts[ending torture, focus on "Prisoners -of-Conscience & speedier trials] than the wider mandate of the last decade. But,I have no qualms regarding their enhanced mandate..
TV Channel? Seems a positive step from out here in Western Canada.Amnesty will still rely on regular snail.mail to offending goverments from its members, augmented by e.mails, faxes etc.The work will continue until the Aung San Sui Kyi*s of this world are free from State Terror(s).
Good to see that the majority of contributors on this thread view Amnesty*s work as essential.

  • I was browsing other sites when I stumbled here. Too bad I can't watch the video. Do you have an article for this? Human rights are something that cannot be taken away from someone or can't be bought or priced, it can't even be equated to installment loans. Therefore, violations for these must be penalized because no human being has the right to humiliate another human being.
