Words can tell a story, describe emotions, and explain the facts, but they can never replace a powerful moment captured in a photograph. For more than 30 years, MSF has sent photographers into its projects to document both MSF’s work and the people we are trying to assist. This is a collection of some of their best work, including images from award-winning photographers, both independent and affiliated with international newswires and photo agencies.

We decided to drive to Washington yesterday to attend what was a national "Let Gaza Live" March. It was a last minute decision, weighing the cost of driving a roundtrip of 8 hours with Yousuf and Noor, and the anticipated inclement weather, against the benefit of standing with Gaza.

I think I would have described us as fairly pro-Palestinian, and whilst I wouldn't have said we were anti-Israeli, we had very limited understanding of an Israeli perspective on the conflict. This time, having become more involved and interested in peace-building activities, and determined to get past the 'them' and 'us' mentality so easy to slip into when working on the issues here, we wanted to spend some more time meeting Israelis and Israeli peace-building organisations.

Talking about the human rights in China. First of all, I am not a big fan of the Chinese government (in fact I was quite 'anti-gov' when I was in high school and college) but I've learned to respect the facts via years of education.
Four hundred million Chinese people are out of poverty during the recent 20 years. Is that a splendid achievement in terms of human rights? Of course it is. 400,000,000 are six times greater than the whole population in the UK. Can you imagine it? No other governments in the earth could achieve that in such a short period of time.

In our book The Triple Bottom Line, we argued that companies and managers will perform better and achieve more in the long run if they aggressively seek out the overlap between their business interests and the interests of the environment and society. This common-sense definition of sustainability has resonated with thousands of managers. Now, through this blog, we are trying to widen the circle even further.

In case the title isn't clear, this is a blog (web-log) about business ethics. It is not a discussion forum. I post news & commentary about corporate ethics here. If you believe either
a) that corporations have a god-given right to accumulate as much capital as possible without regard for who gets hurt along the way, or
b) that all corporations, and all people who work for them, are inherently evil, you will probably be irritated by this blog.

Abolish the Death Penalty is a blog dedicated to...well, you know. The purpose of Abolish is to tell the personal stories of crime victims and their loved ones, people on death row and their loved ones and those activists who are working toward abolition. You may, from time to time, see news articles or press releases here, but that is not the primary mission of Abolish the Death Penalty. Our mission is to put a human face on the debate over capital punishment.

I am a Kenyan mshairi (poet in Kiswahili) living in the UK dreaming of a time when the cultural, legal and political obstacles that prevent African women attaining economic independence and equality are eradicated. I would like to see the development of gender-sensitive ICT policies leading to more African women accessing and using these technologies. My interests are world music, poetry, books, art, love, movies, life, Africa, gender activism.

I have chosen to write about a range of issues that I have experienced directly or indirectly in my offline life such as gender violence, racism, sexuality, HIV/AIDS and cancer. I view the world as moving further and further to the right with American hegemony contaminating the global space. I wanted to write from a radical and progressive standpoint challenging not only the right but also the liberal community, the so capitalism with a friendly face which is an oxymoron to say the least.

Could Northern Ireland be helping to fuel genocide in Darfur? That's the almost incredible prospect opened up by new revelations from the BBC.

I have previously blogged about the possibility that Northern Ireland companies could be helping to supply key parts for the Chinese K-8 light attack jet. In turn, it is feared by Amnesty that these jets have been sold on by China to human rights-abusing regimes such as Zimbabwe and Myanmar / Burma.
