And if I understand correctly, those who actually practised the torture methods -did- think it was legal because they had received clear instructions to do so.

I agree with Antonio I am not sure why everyone is so scared to bring these people to justice! It must be stopped and something must be done to show that we will not tolerate this any more! Obama is heading in the right direction but I feel he needs more courage to go all the way!

Personally I don't give a damn if it's America, Mexico, China or England!!! Law and Justice have never had a nationality or label to name on them. If someone comited a crime... this someone will pay the consequences of his or her acts. Personally I don't care where he or she is from!!!

Antonio, I argee-basically, they are getting away with murder. Are we turning a blind eye because it is America?

I just have a question.. why everytime that the true colors of a bad administration like the one Bush held are shown up into the lights people are afraid to do something?... I can not find an explanation to it! If someone commited cruel acts and with that held a criminal regime with torture for example, these people MUST BE taken to justice and have a trial to them. This is no FUCKING JOKE... US government must stop covering the reality with speeches and paper work to do something about it. I repeat... THIS IS NO FUCKING JOKE!... Pardon my language but sometimes things must be said the way it must be said.

Publishation of documents good as openness in the US system is good news. Bad news is the immunity from prosecution. Poeple responsible should be held accountable for illegal acts that were committed in the 'war against terror'.

Perhaps now with the appointment of Barack Obama and hopefully Mohammad Khatami come the June elections, there is light at the end of the tunnel re: the 30 year face-off between the two countries.

2 things I wish for: 1. Closure of all US strategic bases and withdrawal of all forces from the middle east that are not required to fight the Taliban, along with a fundamental change in US foreign policy direction. 2. A more moderate Iran with equal rights for women, a freer press and freedom of/from religion. Is that too much to ask??

Well..... nothing wrong with a bit of optimism!!
