State Minister Aliye Kavaf continues to make controversial comments on morals and values that raise reactions. Following her criticisms on the love scenes in Turkish soap operas, she shared her opinions on homosexuality and gay marriage. The state minister said she believes homosexuality is a biological disorder that requires treatment.

I woke up this morning holding my breath, and 1 minute and 5 seconds into the next President's acceptance speech, the nightmare ended. Three sentences in, he said: "It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American…" By now my boyfriend and I were clutching onto each other's arms. "… Gay, straight, disabled and not disabled." We both let out our breath and gave a little jump. We were almost punching the air like, well, Americans.

A sweet but possibly untrue comedic episode on an Australian airline... "Mr Gay, overhearing what the Agent had said, tried to clear up the situation; "You've got the wrong man. I'm Gay!" This caused an angry third passenger to yell "Hell! I'm gay too! They can't kick us all off!""

You have to hand it to Peter Tatchell. The veteran gay rights campaigner – who will be giving the Amnesty International Pride Lecture this evening – really knows how to maximise media attention.

In the wake of Iris Robinson MP's homophobic comments at Westminster and on the airwaves, Tatchell has accused the politician of hypocrisy and reminded her that unionist icon King William III of Orange is reputed by some historians to have been bisexual.
