Optimistically, let’s put aside questions of religious persecution and think about this as a design problem: what are the tensions within the built environment that made this ban possible? When the law is a flaw, what does design offer?

This is a tale of equality in confrontation with equanimity. On the one hand, the right to religious freedom should include reasonable material expression: every church with its cross, every mosque with its minaret [1]. On the other hand, the atmosphere and image of Switzerland’s picturesque Cantons are so finely crafted and manicured that formal deviation disturbs the calm.

International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that on October 7 an Iranian judge charged Maryam and Marzieh with ‘crimes’ of apostasy and propagation of the Christian faith. They could face life imprisonment if convicted of apostasy.

Unfortunately many of the children are starved, tortured, abandoned and even killed because their parents and the communities are afraid. We the undersigned urge you to come together and implement a law that would punish anyone who labels a child as a witch with intentions of harming ( Physically or mentally ) or with intentions of extortion or exploitation of any kind. It is child abuse and should not be tolerated.

Violators should be arrested, sentenced by a high counsel, jailed and prosecuted in regards to the extent of the crime. They should also be ordered to pay for the rehabilitation of the child.

Victims should be rehabilitated without being charged.

Everyone should be educated about this matter.

This forum has never witnessed a single episode that stirred so many responses, so much anger, sadness, sympathy and calls for some heads to roll in its history until last month. Picking through stacks of emails for the last three weeks or so it does appear the discussion has subsided with time. The issue that caused so much emotion in so many parts of the world since shown on London Channel 4 TV titled, YouTube, Facebook, BBC, etc., “Saving Africa’s Children” has not gone away and will not go away until the problems are nipped in the bud. That will take hard work. Last week I decided to check out things for myself during a brief stopover in Akwa Ibom.

Amnesty’s just heard about the case of Chen Zhenping, an imprisoned Chinese woman who follows the Falun Gong spiritual movement .

A fellow inmate has told us that Chen is being forced to work a 19-hour day making cotton buds and rugs, with beatings if she fails to reach production targets. The remaining five hours are spent sleeping on the floor of a cell she shares with over 30 other prisoners.

Holding her daughter close, she told how a baying Hindu mob dragged her husband – a Christian pastor – from his bed, beat him to death with stones and iron rods and then threw him into a river. She found his corpse two days later, washed up on the bank. When she went to the police, they told her to go away.

Musicians and tour organisers have told The Daily Telegraph that a series of significant performances have been affected amid a tightening of political control over the arts and Christianity.

Among the victims are the Academy of Ancient Music, one of Britain's leading orchestral and choral groups, which was invited to sing The Messiah at the Beijing International Music Festival in October.
