There should be more interest in this case, Jorge Velásquez needs all the support he can get. I would be interested in an update on what (if anything) has happened since this was posted.
Now 4 years after this was posted, there are still hundreds (if not thousands) of women being killed in Guatemala

What an inspiration! I just read: Half the sky, also a must read for all
humans on the planet and she's been speaking up for quite some
time now. It all starts with how we raise our kids and the opportunities
we give them in developing a questioning mind and to learn to
love uncertainty. Maybe someday we will all manage to live in peace together, that would be nice. Life's short enough as it is, there's no need to shorten it for each other. May Nawal's voice always be heard or read!
What an inspiring woman, i personally like the " hope and knowledge is power", very very true
One can only admire Jorge Velásquez's courage in his fight for justice for his daughter and womankind in his country in the face of such indifference from the authorities. The lucid expression of his thoughts is a riposte to such attitudes.
Hi,
Many battered women's groups in America have become more concerned about funding than justice for the battered women. They do great works also, don't get me wrong, but we as a society should not rely on them solely for change. They are now bought and paid for since much of their funding and their visibility comes from government.
I am working on change in my own case because I became involved with what is a rarity in this country, a serial abuser and psychopath/sociopath. I need help because the prosecutor closed the cases but the statutes of limitations hasn't run out and there is now more support and evidence against him.
See my videos at www.youtube.com/abittadissa... and pass them on if you would. I have more information, though not complete, at http://photobucket.com/info... with the guest password: information1
Sincerely,
Robin West
What a brilliant,amazing woman!
